So, i didn't submit my fafsa by march 2 or whatever to UC berkeley. I did not do so because I was applying to a ton of schools, and fafsa would only let send it to 10 colleges. Can I still submit it and get some financial aid? Would it be feasible at all to get enough loans to cover a Berkeley education? Is berkeley even an option for me since I didn't submit the fafsa to UCB on time?

btw, my EFC is 0, and my expected contribution is 0.

You can still submit your fafsa now. However, you may receive some aid but it will not be guaranteed to be as high as you would normally receive if you submitted your fafsa on time. Even though you applied to over 10 schools, you could have sent your fafsa to more than 10 schools. After submitting your initial fafsa, you should have submitted another one to the remaining schools that you applied to through filing a correction.

dang it! i wish i knew that! well, i will be refiling i guess. but i’m also wondering if i can take out more loans to pay for berkeley because i’m pretty sure i won’t get enough grants, scholarships, and loans through fafsa to pay for it. so, could i somehow take out more loans? I’m just not sure how this whole process works.

The issue with loans is that their ability to give loans is also tied to the FAFSA.

However, the good news is that at Berkeley, they generally tend to have funds left over all the time because they plan ahead for people in situations like you (plus those who are just careless). The difference is that there is no guarantee that you’ll be able to get the financial aid if you are late.

What you should do now is contact the financial aid office and ask for the next steps. At this point, there is still a good chance that you may still get most, if not all, the grants and loans that you would have otherwise been eligible for.
