didn't yet receive letter = bad sign?

hey everyone,

i swear i'm usually a very casual person but i didn't get my carleton letter yet, and everyone else seems to have received acceptance/waitlist letters, so i'm driving myself crazy. if we didn't receive a letter today, does that mean REJECTION?! i live in upstate NY, if that matters.

sorry for being neurotic! thanks for your opinions!

I feel the same. I live in Florida, I know someone here had already got the acceptance letter. And since they send acceptance buy express and rejection by regular mail, I feel negative about the whole thing.

ijfsiajisjjiaskfoa great. i really hope you get accepted! but if it turns out we both get a no, let’s create a club or something :P

sure, we will:)

I think I have solid grades. but they reject people with good stats, so I can’t tell.

word, same here!! i mean, i don’t really have an intense hook, but i have good enough grades/stats/i visited and interviewed (it was my best interview too), so i thought i would at least get waitlisted? haha, this is making me insane :P

Lol, I visited and did the interview, and so ture, at least waitlist… So mad about not recieving any information. What other schools you are considering?

yeah. also, carleton is one of the schools i’m applying to that’s not in the northeast, so being from new york isn’t even a disadvantage! why didn’t we get anything?! commence hyperventilation sequence… :P

i also applied to kenyon, williams, haverford, vassar, and middlebury. middlebury actually accepted me last week, for which i am very grateful…note to carleton admissions: please follow suit  haha. where’d you apply?

Oh calm down you two. I’ve asked and all decisions were mailed the same day and all decisions will receive a letter. So be patient. :)

Son’s big envelope (which he has not opened yet, as he had a very busy day and wanted to nap 10 minutes) was NOT express mail but regular mail, in case that helps.

eyevand – funny, during the application process, when all my friends were freaking out, i gave them that advice all the time! i was the relaxed one…oh, how the tables have turned :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: but that is good advice, indeed.

neumes – that causes me temporary relief! thank you! and congratulations to your son!

I just saw they were talking about how Carleton facebook says all decisons were mailed on Friday and Saturday, I guess our letters were malied on Saturday.
I applied schools like Cornell and Princeton but also several liberal art colleges like Carleton. I got accepted by Colgate. But after the visiting, I absolutely like Carleton more.
I also applied williams, but I didn’t get an early write. TT

Thanks neumes and eyevand, I guess I will be relieved for a day.

hey, no worries, i didn’t get an early write to williams either! i actually applied to princeton and yale as well, but i’m so expecting not to get in that i don’t even mention them, haha. looks like our college situations are pretty similar. best of luck to both of us! let’s revisit this thread tomorrow when we check the mail :)

As far as I know, express mail is used only for international acceptances (so that people actually get a chance to respond by May 1st). So you not receiving a letter yet is probably not telling much in terms of your decision.

…still no letter. shoots self in face grrrr

chill out…
i haven’t gotten mine yet ( i’m an international )

Decisions for International will come soon

don’t freak out! i promise all domestic decisions were sent on the same day, so not getting it yet is more indicative of slow mail than actual results.

breakfast – thanks! :D
