difficulty for out of state in engineering?

I can’t find the stats online, but I was wondering if anyone has any idea how difficult it is to get into UIUC for engineering as an out of state student? I live in Pennsylvania and I plan on majoring in civil engineering, so I wanted to apply to UIUC because they are consistently ranked in the top 3 for civ.

For me specifically, here are my qualifications:

GPA (UW/W): 3.91/4.52
Rank: top decile (like 12/220 or something)
SAT: 1520 (770M/750ERW)
APs: Human Geo (4), Euro (3), Bio (4), Calc AB (5), USH (4), US Gov, Calc BC, Stats, Physics C
Senior Year: AP US Gov, AP Calc BC, AP Stats, AP Physics C, Honors World Lit, Honors Latin 4, Religion, Senior Thesis
High School Course Rigor: I’ve always taken the hardest courses, with the exception of english because my school says I’m “under-qualified” for AP english lol

Awards:
-AP scholar w/ distinction
-high honors every year
-various awards for science fairs
-hopefully some sort of National Merit Scholarship
-cross country academic awards

ECs:
-cross country captain
-science fairs every year/science mentor
-church volunteering
-president of latin club
-vp of environmental club
-co-founder of model un
-school scholars program
-senior/freshman mentorship
-nhs
-worked at the zoo in my city

I’m a white boi in an upper-middle class suburban fam w/ an income of $350,000 so I have no hook

Thanksssss

you should be fine and more than fine. My S, also a no hooks student, got in for Materials Eng (ranked #2) with way less EC. Our “hook” is probably full pay out of state. Look up their accepted freshman statistics. Also, with the exception of CS, acceptance rate is 50% or higher.

I think you have a very good chance of admission to Civil Engineering. Not a safety, but fairly close, especially for full pay out-of-state like aandaparent said. Penn State is a solid choice for just about any engineering major and much less expensive since you are a resident, if that’s an issue. Purdue would be a top pick for Civil as well, plus you’d have a decent chance at the presidential merit scholarship there with those stats, making it much less expensive than UIUC for a top-10 program. Good luck!

Your chances are very high to be admitted. My daughter is a current, out of state engineering major. She loves the school and it has been a positive experience all around. Best wishes!

UIUC admits OOS on the same basis as in-state. Go here to see the middle 50% ranges for engineering http://engineering.illinois.edu/admissions/undergraduate/index.html (the GPA given there is an unweighted GPA)
