Difficulty level on these APs?

Next year I'm taking:
1. AP Chemistry
2. AP Physics 1 (no one has taken it yet, but those who have taken AP Physics B, please reply)
3. AP Art History
4. AP Human Geography
5. AP English Language & Composition
I heard my AP Chem teacher absolutely SUCKS at teaching..so that'll be fun. Any tips on handling that class would help. I'm walking into Physics 1 blind. I don't know much about Art History, however, is it similar in rigor to say APUSH or another AP History? I heard AP HUG isn't a big deal, but I have heard the multiple choice for AP Lang is nigh impossible to do. Tips?

I can’t speak for the class (I took IB English HL), but the exam for AP Lang is incredibly easy if you’re confident in your writing abilities. I took it with little prior knowledge of the structure of the exam and scored a 5. The multiple choice is basically a slightly beefed up version of the critical reading portion of the SAT, but still manageable. Good luck! :)

I took Lang and the class wasn’t too difficult at all. This might vary at your school though.

The MC on the AP exam this year WAS brutal xP but it shouldn’t be hard to score well on your essays as long as you’re a decent writer.

Art history & Chem are the only ones that should be challenging and time consuming. Physics 1 won’t be a walk in the park if you haven’t taken a Physics class before, but it’s manageable(my honors Physics class was pretty much Physics 1).

For AP Language, you have to love/be very interested in the passage to do well. I took the passages this year as SAT passages; one of them was related to the judiciary and, as I studied AP Gov this year, I was pretty much the only one who enjoyed the passage and thought it was very easy (AP Gov is a senior year class, so yeah). By the end of it, there was almost no pressure going into essays, which we had prepared for just about everyday in class, because I knew I had only gotten a couple questions wrong on the multiple choice. I got a 5.

For AP Chemistry, as we were the first class taking the new test, our resources were limited to the practice test released by Collegeboard and some inadequate preparatory materials. The resources I found particularly helpful were Bozeman’s videos and the AP curriculum available on Collegeboard’s website. Those were gold for the exam, as you could see which concepts were to be tested and were behind each particular question. As for the class, a variety of materials online in the form of videos and notes can be found for you to study extensively if your class lectures and materials aren’t enough.

I self-studied APHG and thought I literally failed the test. I ended up guessing on the majority of the multiple choice questions, but still got a 5. I have no tips besides memorizing your models and looking at the format of past FRQ’s.

AP Art History was the most time-consuming class I took this past year, and I also took APUSH, AP Lang, and IB Chemistry. I complained about it the entire time but now I am SO glad I took it. I probably learned more from that class than any other class I’ve ever taken. Also, to me, the exam was way easier than the class, but I think this year was easier than most.

Thanks for all the great responses! Appreciate it!

AP Physics B was pretty difficult for me, especially since I had a really bad teacher and the test requires a deep understanding of various key concepts. AP Human Geography was really easy; all you need is a solid understanding of how to take tests well and a basic ability to recall some vocab

I have taken Chemistry and Language. Chemistry is challenging, but hopefully this year will be better than the past one, with more adequate info about the AP exam. Language was easy for me (particularly mc) , but for others it is a challenge. If you have strong reading skills and decent writing skills, you will do well.

Based on what I know, chem is pretty hard but managable and the AP test isn’t bad if you know your stuff. AP art history I have no clue. AP physics 1 I will also be taking next year but what ive heard from others is that Physics B is hard, and physics 1 will be the first half of that. AP human geo is really easy, I took it freshman year and got an easy A but only a 3 on the test (I was a stupid freshman and should have studied a little before the test, I didnt at all). And AP lang I know is easier than AP Lit however AP english in general is pretty hard but it all depends on writing abilities (personally I dont like english and wont be taking those) Good luck next year.

At my school, they replaced Honors Physics with AP Physics 1 so I’m guessing the curriculum is somewhat equivalent, so that class shouldn’t be horrible.

The AP Physics 1 part shouldn’t be that bad; AP Physics 2 is much harder
