Dilema: AP Literature

I'm currently enrolled in an AP Literature. I spend tons of time working on assignments and studying for tests, but currently have a ~80% in the course (lowest mark in my life). I already applied SCEA to Yale and my school reports were sent to HYP + Columbia. The dilemma is: should I drop AP Literature?

If I don't drop, my grades on the first report card would look like crap. I can probably pull the mark up to a 85 by the mid-year report if I work myself to death, however.

If I do drop, my mark will not go on my transcript, but I would have to write a letter to HYPC explaining the drop. (Right? or just Yale?) I'd take regular english next semister and get a 90+. I'd also get more time to spend on my other AP courses this semister. I'm taking an AP Lang next semister as well.

Help.

Stick with it. An 80% isnt that bad, especially if you can pull it to a solid B like you say you can.

This course is starting to kill me from the inside. I have one more day to decide whether to drop or continue. I ended up with a 78 on first quarter, ugh. Is an 82 in AP english better than a 92 in regular english?

Wow I’m in the same boat as you… I also got a 78 last quater, which I really wasnt’ expecting. English is usually my best subject. But theni didn’t take AP lang first, so I’m probably behind.

The schools you’re applying to are pretty selective, so I’m not sure how they would view a B in AP lit… but generally speaking the grade you get in an AP class is the equivalent of one letter grade up in a regular class. So getting a B in AP lit is like getting an A in regular English. As long as you don’t go below a B, you’re fine :)
