Hi, I recently got admitted to UVA and I will be living on campus. I am trying to figure out which meal plan to choose or if I should just eat off campus. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
I assume you are not living in a place with a kitchen? (Some transfers will have a kitchen). Most upper class students try to pick an option with as much flex dollars as possible. My son bought a 75 meal plan, and then I added extra flex dollars to his account.
I am not exactly sure exactly where I will be living atm. Even if there was a kitchen I doubt that I would have time to cook three meals a day bc I’m in McIntire and their ICE program is going to be very time consuming. Some people have rec.ed the semester 50 plan. I do not plan on eating that much and the price looks appealing. Does it cost more to add more flex dollars to the account? If not, I can add more after I run out.
As a transfer student, I believe you can enroll in the lowest cost plan and upgrade as you determine your actual meal need without an upgrade fee. Check out the FAQ’s on the UVA Dining options website. Also, congrats in being admitted. I was rooting for you! Wahoo!!
@Cavduke Thanks for the info! I just wanted to get some additional insight from other people who know more about the plan. Thanks!
