Dining plan?

Hi, could someone please tell me what are some of the (dis)advantages of the BU dining plans? Which one is the most popular?
They are all at about the same price and I don’t really understand what are the differences.

Thank you.

you can switch your dining plan if you don’t like the one u pick, and it’s really easy to do so. i was on 14-plus my 1st 2 years and am now on 250 because i drink a lot of starbucks.

You can change your meal plan by going to the office by Friday of any week. The unlimited plan allows you to swipe into any dining hall at any time as many times as you want. So you can study, hangout, etc. The other choices are pretty self-explanatory.

does unlimited dining plan allow for the use of starbucks or what? im confused

It really depends on whether you think you’ll be dropping by the GSU/Starbucks/Subway more often or if you’ll be eating in the dining hall. I personally liked the 250 plan as well because I work during the day. It’s easier for me to just run to the GSU and grab a bagel with dining points than it is to sit in the dining hall. But as was said, you can change any time, so it’s not a big deal if you end up with one you don’t like.

You use meals in the dining hall (you can also use dining points or convenience points to pay for meals).

You use dining points and convenience points at the GSU and Starbucks, etc.

You cannot use meals at the GSU or Starbucks, etc.

I’ve found that the 250 is the most convenient.

Also, you can’t change your dining plan at any time–the deadline is a few weeks into the semester. Although you can change your dining plan each semester; you don’t have to stick with just one for the whole year.

strawberry, there’s really a deadline? i was under the impression that there wasn’t, huh.

Yeah, I thought they just transferred your leftover points into meals and vice versa…

me too, bailey…that’s what most of my friends do so they get the benefit of the probate thing or whatever from switching from 330 to 250 or vice versa.

Thanks!!!
I remember the campus tour guide told us we could change our plan during the first 10 weeks.
I’ll be definitely going to Starbucks a LOT so I’m thinking about 250 perhaps…

Thank you for clearing things up :)

I know I wanna eat all the time =)

yeah, i highly recommend the 250. i’ve had it for two years straight now! i kinda wish they had a 150 plan and they doubled the dining points or something… i still end up with atleast 50 unfinished meals at the end of the year (not incl guest meals, another 20!?)

the 250 is the plan that includes the most dining points - it’s hard to find time in the middle of the day to eat sometimes, and dropping by the gsu / starbucks / breadwinners / aesop’s bagels in cas basement - must try!! / etc is just super convenient =] hitting the dining hall quickly during lunchtime can be a long process, since there are ALOT of waiting lines in the big dorms…

Yeah, I’m on 250 this semester too. I had the 14 plus freshman year and that worked out fine for me, especially since most of my friends would eat dinner in the dining hall all the time and lived on campus. I ended up purchasing more convenience points though, and my mom wasn’t to happy to get the bill for that.
