My freshman son had the 250 and first semester he was always kind of worried about running out of dining hall meals. He didn’t, however.

He said everyone he knew completely ran out of dining points by the end of first semester, as did he.

This semester it looks like both his dining hall meals and dining points will last the whole time, with a probable surplus. He has had more of a tendency to go out with friends on weekends and spend his own money on pizza this semester, though.

What exactly do the numbers refer to in 250 / 330 plans (doing that by memory so pls don’t correct me if the numbers are off Number of days? Number of meals? Number of dollars?

How many meals does a 330 get you every week? Anyone know the number of weeks of school for both semester? I want to see if this is a better option than the 14 plan, though it probably wont be.

As a freshman, I began with the 14-plus plan. Then later the Fall semester (before the 10-week deadline) I switched to the 9-plus plan. At the beginning of the Spring semester I switched to the 250 plan.

I usually go to the dining hall once or twice a day. I thought I would eat more but I ended up only needing a couple meals per day.

Just something to note: with the unlimited plan, don’t expect to be swiping in for a late night study snack. The dining halls close at 8pm. From 9-12pm, the dining halls open for Late Nite where you can use your dining points to buy snack items.

The dining halls close at 8 PM and unlimited only works for meals. You can’t use them for individual items such as Late Night items or GSU items.

i was under the impression that unlimited was for random snack-getting, too. so…which plan would be best if i eat small meals but might want to pick up snacks throughout the day/night?

the 9 meals a week doesnt sound like a bad option for you. a meal a day and maybe a little more on those days that you might feel extra hungry. the points with the 9 meals a week arent too bad either.

Unlimited means you have unlimited meals at the dining hall. So you can swipe in as many times as you want to get snacks. However, the dining halls are from 7 AM to 8 PM. Before or after you’re on your own. If you want to buy individual snacks like bags of chips or fast food like Panda Express, then it’s better to have dining points. I only go to the dining hall for meals (2x a day) and buy snacks at the GSU so I have the 250 plan.

what about breakfast? im getting unlimited just because i want a balanced diet :/

for those who have the 14 meals plan, where do you get breakfast or which meal do you not eat in the dining halls? sorry if this question had been asked already

Eytukan, I had 14+ last semester. There would be days that I only would eat once or zero times in the dining hall. Essentially, that’s like adding another meal to a different day of the week…so you will end up with three meals somedays if you want to go for breakfast, lunch, & dinner. If you ever leave on a long weekend, you still get 14 meals so you have excess during the week. That being said, there were only a few weeks that I used up all my meals. I always seemed to have a lingering one to three leftover by the end of the week. You need to remember that you’ll have a microwave in your room. You can eat oatmeal, cereal, fruit, granola bars, or whatever else in your room for breakfast. A lot of people prefer sleep to a big breakfast on school days. On weekends, you’ll generally have brunch instead of breakfast & lunch anyways. Even if you choose to get breakfast, it’s easy to go get lunch or dinner at the GSU with dining points or some place like Subway. Sometimes, you’ll probably go out to eat with friends too. And last but not least, by the end of each semester, you’ll get a little sick of dining hall food. It isn’t bad but it loses the novelty, so you’ll want it less.

I liked the 14+ for freshman year. I’m switching to 330 or 250 next year for the meal rollover effect though, which was the only sucky part of 14+.
