Hello all!
I'm wondering if anyone who has gone to DIS would recommend the fall or spring semester? Based on weather, things to do/events, and whatnot. I'm trying to figure out which to apply for and would appreciate any input and advice. Thanks!

I would recommend the fall semester ( I went spring). I think it would be easier to get to know the city while it is still sunny and light, and then gradually have it become winter and dark (but you’ll already know your way around and be comfortable with the city by then). I felt like I had a harder time adjusting when arriving into the coldest part of winter. It didn’t get above freezing until halfway through March that year. :-

But you should definitely check out the course offerings and how they differ fall to spring. I got very excited about a study tour to Iceland which only took place in the spring semester, which influenced how I made my decision.

Don’t forget to think about course offerings back home, too. My major offers more classes one semester than the other, which should have influenced how I picked (if I had thought about it before hand!).

Thanks, Eternal Icicle!

I reviewed it just a few seconds ago here:

Thanks

Empowered, my son is currently studying in Denmark with Dis. I think that Icicle makes a good point about checking to see what classes/optional trips are available and also thinking about what would be happening on your home campus while you are away. As to the weather and amount of daylight, that is probably a matter of personal preference. When Icicle mentioned this on another thread, I asked my son what he thought. It was definitely NOT an issue for him.

One-third of the way through the semester, I have heard nothing but positive comments from my son.
