how does colleges look on students w/ disability?

I'm a high school junior who's starting to think about colleges, and I noticed that a lot of people on this discussion talking about race affecting admissions, espeically for asians, since I am an Asian.

Not only that, I don't see any mention about individuals with disability except myself ( I have hearing loss, but I underwent a surgery to get Cochlear Implant so I can hear and talk nearly as well as anyone else, but note that my hearing is far from perfect. Because of that, I encouter much more difficulties than normally, espeically in a classroom environment.)

SO i was wondering, how does having a hearing loss affect my admissions to top colleges in America (MIT, stanford, yale, etc. u get the pic)? My race? I mean, what will they think of an deaf Asian-American girl???

I'm one of the top students in my classes, taking APs and Honors, and involved in quite few EC, but not that many as many of other ppl had done (my EC sucks, espeically when u notice the lack of math/sci activities due to not many chances in my local area, but i'm trying to join more when i am in a new high school), 2160 SAT, 213 PSAT, stellar recommendations, transcripts mostly A's. the lowest is B+. Very few awards (when applying to those schools, does not winning many awards make you look stupid and less likely to be admiteed?)

Please let me know, thx! (also, does being an asian cause adcoms to subtract 50 points from SAT score?)

would you happen to be named sheila?? cuz you sound a lot like this girl i know...coughjcc??

pm or e-mail me if its u

I can't answer with regards to your disability, but yes, asians do get the equivalent of a 50 point deduction on their SAT scores. No colleges do not actually take these points away, but when considering them, they receive a penalty roughly equivalent to that many SAT points. Actually, that was the old SAT, so the equivalent now would be a 70 or 80 point deduction.

I'm no expert but I'd really doubt that. That sounds quite like discrimination...
