What are the disadvantages of applying to a school this year, getting rejected, and then trying again next year? All the schools on my list are schools I'm considering for the first time (applied to just one college out of high school). I would apply to, say, Yale this year, but I'm worried that I will be disadvantaged if I get rejected this year and then try again next year.

bump bump...

dawg never give up ...
That's all i gotta say i mean if you keep getting rejected each year it kind of shows your character too... I think the admission board ppl will appreciate you for your determination...

Maybe, but persistance can be annoying and if the applicant isn't what they are looking for; they wouldn't be considered unless there is somthing different that shows unique improvement from the last time.

Appliying a 2nd time is fine. 3 is pushing ur money a bit and more is crazy.

I think it's fine in some situations. Like if you have a 3.4 GPA and get rejected, but then boost it up to a 3.7 that's fine. But if you get a 3.7, get rejected, then reapply with a 3.4 I see no point.
