DiScho weekend 2013

Our daughter had a great time at DiScho weekend this past Friday and Saturday. She met with some faculty in her academic area, had plenty of time to meet with other DiSchos, and had a great interview. No essay this year...a roundtable discussion of 'current events' instead. Her topic of discussion was 'cloning'. They seem to do a good job of getting to know the students, and 'selling' UD.

It is great that they have such a quick 'turn-around' on the scholarship decisions. Hopefully they have a lot of information on each applicant. They said they will have a decision out and on the UD portals this coming week; in going through last years threads it looks like people were notified by Tuesday! The waiting begins.

Our son went last year and had a great weekend there. This year he was invited as a DiScho to the dinner Friday night and spoke to some kids that were there for the weekend. It’s funny how the time went by so fast. He found out on the Tuesday after the weekend about his scholarship and is so happy now at UD!!!

Our daughter was also at DiScho this past weekend. She had a really nice time. Waiting to hear about the scholarship. It was not clear to us how many of the DiSchos will receive one of the scholarships outlined in the included list. Does anyone know what the minimum scholarship a DiScho will receive?

When we picked her up on Sat. we were a bit alarmed at the number of students celebrating St. Patrick’s day (esp. so early in the day - we got there at 11am). It was not the best first impression of the campus for me…

yes, just got off the phone with my daughter, seems there were morning/day festivities on Saturday. Mine did not partake but was grateful the dorm was more quiet so she could get her work done. All I can say is there are as many kids that do partake as those that do not. It’s really up to your kid. I’m very grateful there are many activities she can do without the partying including a professional sorority she joined this year. All the fun without the pressure of drinking or hazing etc… Whatever your kid wants to find on campus they will find it as with just about every other campus out there.

all the kids who attended the diScho weekend will get one of the scholarships. You can see the minimum amount by looking on the UDel website. the amount for each award depends on if you are in or out of state. The minimum is typicallly current tuition, or close to it, and they go up from there to include stipends, housing etc.

Congratulations to all!
