Discontinuation of CAP program

Is UT discontinuing the CAP program? One of my friends that applied there this year told me that they were because of UTSA’s graduation rates. Does anyone know if this is true?

UT has not made any announcement that it is discontinuing CAP. In late 2015, UTSA expressed a desire to discontinue the program in 2017 but has not made an announcement yet that it will.

On the CAP page, UT says UTSA limits it CAP enrollment.

Back in 2013, our friends were told that UTA CAP was in its last year and lo and behold, it’s 2016 and it is still going strong.

At some point, a school can fill its freshman class on its own without CAP and it ends the program-UTD for example. UTSA may discontinue the program but the other campuses will still have it.

@gettingschooled Thanks! Do you know if PACE ever gets offered to anyone outside the top 10%?

A poster here last fall said they thought it had been expanded beyond the top 10 percent. I do not know to what degree.

@pinxrt1 PACE UT19 here, I was offered PACE/CAP/waitlist with a rank of 8/43, which is top 18.6%. So, I think PACE might have more to do with other qualifications. Don’t quote me on that, though. All I know is that I had a bad rank, mediocre test scores (29 ACT), and killer essays. So don’t ever feel like you don’t have a shot! Good luck friend!!
