i never ditch classes, and i've ditched once. i don't know why, i see other people do it all the time and they have better scores than me, so I don't know why I'm feeling bad, anyone ever feel the same?

I miss a decent amount of class, never buy books, and rarely study. I did pretty well, got a 3.8 and got into UCLA.

Some of us are just smarter :(

Good luck keeping up those study habits @ UCLA hijynx.

It depends on the class and the person. Some people learn more on there own.

Thanks, but luck plays no part in my success.

i meant like isn’t it pscyhologically shameful to you and disrespectful to the professor? well at least it is to me, i guess i just have this certain weird feeling about ditching

thats resourceful hijnx99, books are damn expensive

hijynx the fact you take joke classes and have a joke major in general is the reason for your success. You’re paying almost 50k for a useless degree they might as well make it easy for you right?

@eptar: Nah, I don’t think it’s shameful as long as you are doing well. Let’s face it, CC just isn’t that hard. If I miss a handful of classes in a semester, it won’t make a big difference since I can just gaze over another person’s notes. I do not think it is disrespectful to the professor if they do not know (assuming you are doing well). If I have a teacher who I know takes roll, or personally knows me (based usually on where I sit) then I try and make it a point to be there. Or at least tell them when I won’t be there and give them a good reason so they feel good about it.

And yah books really aren’t necessary for most any CC class. I would say math is the only exception. Statistics 1 not included. Most other information learned can be found online, or acquired via good notes. I didn’t need my health book this past summer session to tell me smoking kills.

@whoswith: The only joke is how pathetic it is when you hunt me down on the forum just to criticize history. Please, tell me once again how history is a joke? Better yet, tell me what classes I take that are a joke. Since I take most of the same GEs everyone else takes to fulfill their IGETC. Or are the classes I take somehow easier than your GE classes?

First, I am not paying 50k for my degree. Not sure where that figure comes from. Second, it is not useless. It serves its purpose of allowing me to apply and attend law school. Lastly, History is only an easy major if you enjoy the subject. If writing, memorization, and comprehension are your weak points, you will fail at the subject.

Good try though!

I find it funnier that he thinks he’s the **** with a 3.8 Community College GPA.

And OMGz he cuts classes AND STILL gets a 3.8 GPA! What a rebel. A real James Dean type, quite obviously.

Can’t wait til this guy gets cracked at UCLA.

OMGZ I TOTALIEZ LIQ SAID I WAS DA ****. I merely pointed out CC requires little to no effort, and did so in a humorous/cocky fashion.

I can see I really hit a nerve though. It must truly bother you that you hold this false ideal that UCLA is some academic utopia. That only those who work the hardest and fight for it can become members of the elite club, and that those who falter will be “cracked” haha.

The irony is people like me usually do better than people like you who fear the UCLA utopia, and also have more fun doing so. So keep prepping yourself for the academic fight of your life! I would hate to see you…cracked…

Yeah man you totally got that one right.

God knows why you’ve made it a personal goal to come off as a huge d-bag on almost every post you make on these boards, but maybe some psych major could help me out with that one. I’d say good luck to you in the future, but you’ve made repeated posts saying that you don’t need it.

Whatever.

Of course I got it right. Look who you are talking too! awaits the explosion of your head

Wait, are you one of those people who thinks a BA in psych gives you the ability to evaluate and profile people? God, now I see who I am really dealing with. What a tool.

Damn, you people need chill pillssssssssss.

I hate ditching. I feel super bad and feel like I’ve missed out on a lot of information. I have ditched like, a couple of times but never because I didn’t want to go to class. I’m one of those people who have to be attentive in class, learn by myself, talk to the professor personally, etc. I really have to study hard to get an A but I think it’s much more worth it when you do receive that A because you know you actually deserve it.

Hijynx, your major is a joke. You swear getting a 3.7 gpa in history makes you the ****. Come back to me if you can handle the course load of hard sciences.

Oh, you didn’t take critical thinking? Let me help you.

Why are you guys bagging on history? The man wants to go to law school and so do I…we can major in whatever we want so we might as well pick something we enjoy and hey if it’s “easier”, GREAT better for me…still gets me where I wanna go.

It’s worse when there are people who don’t want to come to class and stay. I’d rather see people leave who aren’t interested. Staying in class (as well as going to their office hours and participating) can have it’s benefits. Later on, professors may recommend you for a scholarship or write letters of recommendations. It’s easier when they remember you lol.

The only class I ditched repeatedly was an upper division history course. It had 250 students (as it was the go-to class for history, poli sci, and economics). The professor showed movies and documentaries constantly (which were all available at the Moffitt Library). I opted to follow the reading plan on my own and view the movies, etc. at my leisure. I think I was less invested in the course because of the lack of access to the professor (he only had office hours 1 day a week for 3 hrs).

Hijynx,

I think it’s ridiculous not because they see you do a History major, but it’s because you act as if you’re a super smart guy. Do you really think that you’re? Just because you got UCLA? huh? Well, you may think that you’re smarter than a lot of cc students? But, CC does not prove anything. I dont think 3.8 or even 4.0 in History it’s worth talking for.

I traced many of your posts and then… haha I found that … it’s no doubt why so many people here dont like you.

Do you have any friends? I mean a real friend.
