So what is the general consensus on ditching? Personally, I feel like if I didn't ditch at little I'd go insane...

They take away school credit if you get caught at my school.

I've never tried and I don't intend too. Personally, I feel like I'd miss too much to make up the work.

yeah ditto. the people at my school are hardcore and give out wrong hw assignments so i can't miss school...anyway you get like thrown out if you do :(

I don't technically "ditch" since I have my mom call the school and make an excuse for me... but every once in a while I have what I call a "mental health day" where I stay home from school and do nothing but watch TV and read "fluff" books (i.e. Meg Cabot and other "chick-lit" books... they're my guilty pleasures). As a senior I've been taking waaaay more mental health days than I did in previous years, but my mom is okay with it since I've also been under way more stress. I agree with pixiesticker, knowing that I have ditch days coming up is the only thing that keeps me sane...

jeez wat kinda schools do u guys attend??

sometimes, i skip class to do homework. its quite sad, really. other times, i take mental health days just to chill.
its therapeutic. i promise

yeah, sometimes i pick a day when we arent doing anything in class and i skip school to do homework or sleep. the school doesnt care.

also, i always go to school when i am sick, so i feel like i have "saved" days to miss when i am healthy.

^ Lol, me too... unless I'm, you know, vomiting or something (nice mental image for everyone)

I was missing so many days of school that I finally decided to just drop half of my classes so that now I only go to school every other day. It's the sweetest thing about being a senior :)

i never miss my most demanding classes, but for spanish class i feel ZERO guilt for going out to lunch instead since i already speak the language (better than the teacher at least).
french was a joke last year, so i skipped that once in a while. i skipped physics once last year too.
i get all my absences excused by my mother - she doesnt care how often i actually GO to school as long as i get straight As (always have)

but now that ive been accepted to college i can foresee my # of mental health days increasing.. funny how that happens

and yes, in the height of stress i have been known to skip school to do homework

Oh yeah, and I can't forget how much retail therapy helped my mental health days this year.

I skip when I feel like it. Often, I try and pick a day when I'm not doing much in any of my classes...I hate making up work.

I still pretend sick lol and it's excused so no harm done.

Ah, I like that phrase "Mental Health Day". I used to take one every wednesday :D Since I did more work than everyone else in my class, I was allowed(even by the teacher who just joked about it) to cut.

Now though, i'm going to have only like 3 classes so it's not really needed. If I cut school I go to school anyway to hang out with friends.

We had a snow day yesterday and my teacher kept refering to it as a mental health day. Yay snow days!

I would never ditch at my school because the school would either suspend or even expel me. But I do take some days off when I didn't get enough sleep the nite before.

there's no way to ditch at my school. There are 2 guards in each hallway. 2 at every gate. 2 at every doorway.

So there's no way anyone can get out of school even if they want to.

i didn't go to school today... lol. my classes were all a joke anyways - TA, history (where we're reading the CONSTITUTION...), apes (we do nothing but draw), and and english (where we sit and um. talk? and watch movies?)

yeaaaah. i went to bed at around 2AM and i got up at 6AM feeling exhausted ... my parents are kinda strict however, and i had to make up some sick excuse. i usually never do this so they were like OH okay. then i woke up at around 11, made a scrumptious lunch, played video games and watched movies.... :) LOL. i feel kinda guilty. but this is so much better mindnumbingly boring classes!

ive taken about 6 days off this year. usually i just pretend like i'm leaving to school in the morning and drive around, come back a few minutes later when my parents have left to work, and just sleep.

i ditch my ap physics class (2 periods) at least once a week, and i ditch my econ class about twice a week. iand on top of that, i skip entire days once every two weeks. t's not really ditching though, because my parents just call me in sick or something. funny thing is i never ditch in order to skip a test or do homework like most people. i skip to chill downtown or attend a protest or seminar or something.
