To be honest I have yet to meet an Aussie but I definitely wouldn’t be surprised if there was a couple here. If you search around the Internet, Georgetown actually publishes the geographic distribution of each applicant pool and each attending class. (http://uadmissions.georgetown.edu/firstyear/studentprofile/#GR</a>) It looks like there are 2 Aussies in the class of 2016. I can tell you that diversity is huge here at Georgetown. There are people from all different cultural, political, social, and economic backgrounds. It’s pretty awesome. I’ve made friends from Haiti, Pakistan, Belgium, the UK, South Korea, and many of the states.

i am a senior and i had the same questions for my interviewer and he assured me that there was diversity in terms of backgrounds, religion, and socioeconomic class. he even said Georgetown is working extremely hard to create more diversity but not every school is going to be perfect

One might even say that no school is perfect.

There are also two Aussies in the class of 2015 according to the class data that I have from last year. In addition our S is a dual US/Oz citizen but lives in America so was counted as a “local”. The international student ratio was 10% in 2011 and 9% for this year. There is plenty of diversity at Georgetown and an overwhelming amount in the Washington metropolitan area.

I’m Australian and Georgetown is my first choice university! I’m a dual australian/american citizen but was born in and have lived in Melbourne my whole life. I’m applying for 2014 intake. What city are you from?

SummerAus - Our S is just the opposite. Born in the US (Cleveland) but is a dual citizen as his mother (my wife) is from Melbourne. All of her family reside there. Grandparents are in Docklands and the other aunts and uncles are scattered in the suburbs and in north shore Sydney. Our S loves Georgetown. He considered study abroad at Melbourne Uni and U of New South Wales but deferred to the UK instead as he has been back to Oz many times and wanted go somewhere new and different.

There is an Australian girl who lives right next to me

I’m one of the of four or five total Australians in the class of 2016. I know there is one other girl straight from Australia, one kid who apparently lived in Melbourne,China (and North or South Carolina I think), another chinese-australian from Sydney and me, an Australian-American dual-citizen. It’s quite diverse over here, you will definitely see many people from all over the world.

Also, I love it here. You won’t regret coming here. In response to Irishson, you will most likely make friends with people from at least 10 or more different countries, whether it be your floormates, classmates or even people you meet in clubs.
