I agree. However, I believe that the selection process was highly based on promoting diversity, as the name suggests. There were obviously too many applications, and thus they chose a pool that seemed to best represent different socioeconomic areas. I hope, however, that me applying but being rejected still works in my favor, because I am showing interest in the school. I could be wrong though, and come application time, they might not know who I am at all.

Yeah I think you applying definitely shows a lot of interest Shiny20!

The letter was very kind. They gave priority to those who have never visited. D has been to the Amherst campus, so she was not considered.

However, they are waiving the application fee, so I still love Amherst.

My child told me that he will not be applying to Amherst College.
(Amherst was one of his top three colleges.)
I hope he changes his mind but it will not happen. I know him.

DivOH application process left sour taste in his mouth.
He thought that he did not have much chance to begin with. He felt like he was a sidekick to the show.

Congratulation to everyone who got invited!
Good luck and have fun at Amherst College!

Rejected. Do only some people get application fee waivers or do they give them out to everybody who applied?

@TheBaus, I am unsure. In the letter I received, it simply stated that if I sent the dean of admissions a letter that he would be happy to email me an application fee waiver. I, however, do not know if this comes with specific qualifications. I suggest simply emailing their office and see what happens.

@elbeen! I remember you from your response in another thread of this topic. (or was it this thread…?) And that facebook thing sounds good…

Haha nice !

Has anyone from the South heard anything? D is anxious to find out and still nothing in the mail.

My D was rejected last year from this program. but she got in.
class of 2014! having great time there now.

^ Goes to show that DivOH rejectees should not give up on Amherst! I feel like the application was based on numbers and a stringent essay whereas your actual college application will actually reflect your personality and passions! Don’t give up on Amherst guys :)

Well, I posted this in the Questions thread too, but anyone who got into the September session, pm me! I’m excited I justtt found out, can you tell?

I think my cousin commented on this thread about how he got rejected from DIVOH, but still got accepted. I’ve visited Amherst, so I was really worried that I wouldn’t get into DIVOH, but luckily I did & I’m very excited!

Congrats to both of you ! :)

So guys I made a facebook group, and it is ‘Amherst DivOH 2010’. Join please if you were accepted. Thanks and I look forward to meeting all of you

^ you rock hahaa

I actually haven’t gotten anything yet - I’m Californian and applied for the October session. After hearing all of you getting your letters (and re-reading the confirmation email saying that I should be “hearing news soon”), I called today and the Admissions Office told me that I should get something in the next couple of weeks.

Did anyone else get the same answer? This feels so…ominous.

Yea when I called, before I got my acceptance letter, the lady told me that I would get mine in about a week and a half; and the next day, I got the letter in the mail.

Flyingdeloreans, perhaps they’re only mailing out September session letters this week.
