Perhaps this has been asked before, but here I am asking it again (sorry):

When universities send out acceptance letters, do they include the scholarships/financial aid package as well? Or do they send them out separately? Because to decide whether you're going there or not, wouldn't you need to know how much it would cost you? Or is it different from university to university?

Some send everything together and some send it separately. It depends on the school. BUT all send the info well in advance of the May 1 commitment date.

For one school my son got a call about a particular scholarship in early March, and went for a free scholarship week-end (with interviews, testing, etc.) before he had received his acceptance letter. Obviously we assumed he would be admitted, but they wouldn't tell him until the letter came in April.

that's a good question. i guess it depends on the school. i applied to a school that has rolling admissions within 4 to 6 weeks, so i should be hearing from them within the next week or 2 since i sent my application at the beginning of November. today, i received a bunch of info from them about financial aid , but i haven't gotten my acceptance letter yet. i must be accepted, because why would the college send me financial info well after i sent in my application if they're going to reject me?

Sometimes they send you stuff just because you're on their mailing list, regardless of the status of your application. Maybe they haven't reviewed your app yet. But it can also be the other way round.

From what various colleges' websites say, I agree with thumper.

It depends on the school, but if you're doing ED, then I believe they will send all the stuff to you at once. EA, not so much.

For regular, some schools send a thin acceptance letter out first, then a week or two later, send out the fat package. Others send it altogether.

I just got my acceptance letter from a rolling decisions school. No financial aid forms have been turned in yet, since it's too early to file the FAFSA. But with my acceptance letter there was a letter regarding a merit scholarship.

Does anyone know specifically about Boston College, because my daughter received her letter today, but we were still wondering if she still has a chance for the Presidential Scholarship.
