Asking for my son’s friends. Three applied and he said he doesn’t think any of them received a packet yet. We are in a suburb of Dallas, students on the east coast have gotten packets, so wouldn’t they have something by now?
My son is just commended and National Hispanic Scholar, so not expecting anything, but I would think some of his friends would be.
Texasmom12, US mail is tricky to predict and I wouldn’t know what to tell you about if there is still a chance to get the packet. I’d give it a few more days, really. To answer your title question-- No. Only those who are invited for an interview-based scholarship will get their packets this week, along with several who will eventually be told they are getting a Dean’s scholarship. NMF is a separate category, and USC often doesn’t even know who those students are until much later. NMF have until the end of April to designate their top choice college, and only after they do that will their name be submitted by NMF to USC. Best of luck to your son and his buddies.
Thanks @madbean, it is a confusing process for that group. My daughter was a NMF, she decided not to apply to USC because of all the application essays, haha. Our post office is very unreliable, so you never know.
Trying to have faith in the application process - we can’t go full pay, so even if my son gets in later in the spring, it won’t be an option. It will help with the decision process, so what will be, will be!
Good luck, Texasmom12. USC FA does take into account more than 1 student in college, but it is a huge pricetag without help.
Student in student southern California here. Got my Trustee Scholarship finalist packet today (maybe yesterday, I don’t check my P.O. box that often). Good luck!
Nope! the NMF.5 scholarship slowly creeps in.1) First, you have name USC as your first choice school, then you have to get accepted, then you have to commit with $300 deposit, then around the First week of May USC will notify you, confirming scholarship. After registering for classes and when the bill comes due from the registrar, your account will be credited for around $14K - If this is you -congrats!
**The NMF scholarship is worth about $23,000 now!
@SamRam does the NMF scholarship stack with FA?
Unfortunately FA does not stack
@Madeon
If you qualify for financial aid over Presidential, then you will receive the difference between what you qualify for and half tuition.
tl;dr: You will get financial aid stacked with Presidential if you qualify for it.
My son was a NMF last year and received “the big package” but was not invited to interview nor did he receive the Dean’s scholarship. The big package said he was accepted and that was all. A week or so later he received a letter stating he would receive the Presidential NMF. After selecting USC, he got the letter regarding the $1k per year MNF scholarship.
