Do AP English tests count for UCLA's English courses requirement?

I am currently a first-semester freshman at a private California university with plans to go to a CCC for my sophomore year and then apply to transfer to UCLA. I took both the AP English Literature and AP English Language tests and scored 5 on both. Do these AP test scores cover the 2 English course requirement to transfer?

If not, how should I complete the requirement? My current university exempted me from a lower-division writing course so will only allow me to take one upper-division writing course here.

Yes, it can fulfill both, BUT you need to look at the AP credit awards for the college or school at each UC that houses your major and see what the rules are. English course rules vary a lot. In other words, if you are planning to major in engineering, google “AP credit UCSB engineering” - or - “AP credit college of letters and science UC Berkeley” for instance. Find what the rules are for each UC and college/school.

You need to do this for each UC to which you are applying because a college at one UC might accept a 5 for both, but another college at another UC might not.

If UCLA is your only UC just find the major and college there.
