Do colleges care the least about the SAT writing section?

Basically, I got a 710 on the writing, but I got a 1540/1600 on the CR+M sections, which supposedly are more important than the writing subscore.

This being said, is there any major benefit from retaking the SAT in october to raise my writing and math score? My parents believe I should (since a 710 supposedly looks bad) but since my total score is a 2200+ I dont really care.

I'd like to focus on subject tests (Literature and US History specifically) on October instead of the forsaken SAT, but would like to bury this problem of retaking/not retaking.

I think your scores are fine and focusing on subject tests is a better idea.

Some do. Others weight them equally. Given the scores that you have already ( a 710 is great by the way, and compounded with a 1500+ and 2200+ you are in a good place). Please focus on other things like the subject tests instead of the SATs. It will be a better use of your time and your parent’s money
