In the 3rd quarter of my freshman year, I received a B for arriving late to PE (and thus failing to dress in the PE uniform, which lowered my grade).

Normally, "make-ups" are held, in which the points lost from the dress cut or tardy are added back on after a certain task (i.e. running a mile) is completed. However, no such make-ups were held because the teacher wanted to wait until more people had need of them, and as such, I received a B for that quarter.

So my question is: do colleges look at quarterly grades? I know they obviously look at semester grades, but I'm wondering if they'll see this sub-4.0 GPA at this point.....

All my freshman classes were very easy, including PE, and I can't believe my grade just dropped to a B.

I’m aiming for good colleges, and I feel that a bad grade at this point will doom me… I also feel extremely insecure at the moment, thanks to this B… Even if I end up not loading up on extracurriculars and taking Honors & AP courses in an attempt to get to some prestigious school, this B in my freshman year just won’t help at all…

Don’t worry about it. Colleges only get to see what is on your high school transcript, so unless your school puts quarter grades in (not likely), they will never see it. Besides, some colleges (UC’s) don’t even factor in freshman grades, let alone non-academic grades.

EDIT:

Just realized the grade was a B… Its pretty worthless to worry about it.
