Hello, my question is I am applying to a school that requires the ACT w/ writing. Now I already took the ACT and I was pleased with my writing score but not my composite score. If I take the ACT again, can I submit the ACT with the highest composite score and the one with the highest writing score? So will the college take my highest scores even if they are from different tests?

Anyone???

Every college is different. Some accept what’s called a “superscore,” which basically means they’ll consider your highest scores on each section and highest composite. Some colleges just consider the test with your highest composite score. You’d have to do some research into each individual college or e-mail admissions and see what they recommend.

Really what’s most important is the test with your highest composite, math, and reading scores. If that doesn’t happen to be your test with your best writing/science scores, it’s not a big deal.

So I signed up for the next ACT test without writing. Now if I submit that ACT then the college I want to attend (UMich) will not accept it because they require the writing also.

Well, in that case, you definitely have to send ACT with writing, but may able to supplement it with your non-writing ACT.

By the way, you can probably still upgrade your test to ACT with writing if you wish. Then you wouldn’t be stuck sending both.
