I understand that the money comes from the government, but it doesn't make sense that none of the privates I applied to listed the Pell Grant on my financial aid award information, whereas the public schools did.

What was your EFC? You must be under a certain number to qualify for a Pell grant. I am not certain the amount but someone will answer that can quote the threshold.

Under $4000. According to my SAR, I qualify, but when I called one of my private schools, they said I would need to contact a dean to figure it out. Quite honestly, I’d rather skip an intimidating step, and get an answer from the good people on CC! Though I’ll call again if I have to, of course.

I don’t know, Keilinger. That’s odd. I have one kid in a public u and one in a private college. Their Pell grants show up exactly the same way on both FA awards.

The Pell threshold is $4617, and as long as this is an accredited school you should receive a Pell grant (and an ACG if you meet the academic qualifications). When you called the FA office did you get a student who was answering the phone? I would try email…

Thanks, that’s a good idea.
