do grades transfer?

I am applying to transfer after my freshman year, do the grades I get this year count towards my gpa for eventual graduate school admissions, or only the grades from my new school?

--------------no-----------------

Graduate schools may or may not ask for grades from all post-secondary institutions attended. Graduate schools which ask for grades from all post-secondary institutions attended may or may not care about lower division coursework.

Your new school may or may not consider your complete post-secondary GPA for purposes of honors, special program admissions, academic probation, etc.

So, it varies.

nop and never will
just your credits

OP asked if pre-transfer grades will count towards graduate school applications. The answer is that it depends on the school you're applying to. And there are certainly some that require all post-secondary transcripts. Shall I cite an example or two?

Department of Classics - UNC Chapel Hill - Application for Graduate Programs in Classics
Liautaud Graduate School of Business

I believe LSAC requires all post-secondary transcripts as well.

I did mistakenly answer a question that the OP did not ask, if that's the source of the confusion.

LSAC is actually what I was most curious about, thanks for your input

Not a problem. I have a little familiarity with law school admissions, and from what I understand the strongest factors are post-secondary GPA and LSAT score, followed by personal statement.

LSAC does require all transcripts. The system takes all classes/credits taken at all colleges and recalculates it into one single GPA.

Is it true that even when you only transfer credits, medical schools will still see the grades when you apply to med schools?

^ Well, when you apply to med school, don't you have to send transcripts from all undergrad institutions attended? Wouldn't they see all your grades regardless?
