My grades are considered very bad comparing to other applicants. BUT the IB grading system is considered strict.

DO I EVEN HAVE A CHANCE? I gave up on Andover, Exeter, and St. Paul's because of my grades. I WANT TO GO TO CHOATE SO I DIDN"T GIVE UP.

@imymemine: I suggest you review the “Prep School Chances” section if you are truly interested in getting a feel for what kinds of kids are applying to various schools.

In full disclosure, I am the parent of a prospective student and I do not believe in the whole “Chance Me” phenomenon. The opinions of posters on an anonymous forum should have little bearing on whether you apply to a given school. I am also of the opinion that there is no “magic recipe” that qualifies any student for admission to any school.

Additionally, keep in mind that Admissions Officers may lurk here, and your unique situation (Thai student who is interviewing with local alumni of a specific school) may make you easy to identify to anyone who cares to.

Sevendad is correct.
@OP, 5 is a great grade in the IB program. Stop worrying. The deadlines for your apps are around the corner. Make sure you get everything in order before the last min.

That made me feel better. But i got 2 4s for my mid-term. Thai language and Drama. Most students got 4s and 5s for Drama because the teacher is kind of ‘biased’. Also for thai, only 1 student got a 6 and the rest got 4s and 5s. I also got some 4s in the last few years would they think i’m not suitable when they see the 4s? I’m so worried right now. I’m a good writer so I’m not that worried about my essay.
