do i even have a chance? low gpa..

I am going to be a senior this fall. I want to apply to NYU. although NYU is one of my top choices, I do have one or two other schools that I'm very interested in, so I'm not sure if I'll apply anywhere ED. I'm sure i'll apply to NYU RD.

I don't think I'll have a decided major because I still have no clue.. but I want to apply to Arts and science.

My test scores, community service, EC's are pretty good. If I get rejected from NYU, I think the main reason will probably be my GPA.

I go to a public high school but it's very competitive and we have a high ranking. I've been taking all honors and AP classes, which are taught at a bit higher levels than other public schools' AP classes (when I compare them to friends from other schools). I have almost straight B's ): along with a couple C's in AP classes.

and I'm also worried that the adcoms might think I'm just a smart kid with high scores, but too lazy to make A's at school.

So bottom line, my WEIGHTED gpa is around 3.83
my UW is around 3.4~3.5
Can I get into NYU with this GPA?

(my SATs are all at least 700. I took three subject tests. MY SAT I is 2290 superscored)

and those two C’s I got… I raised one up to a B and the other up to an A for second semester.

I don’t think NYU checks semester grades, just final grades so you are in luck! Also, 3.4 is not THAT low. It seems to me based on raw stats only, you’re above 75%tile in terms of SAT/SAT II’s, and below the 25%tile for GPA, so you break even ( just like me) considering academics.
