Do I have a chance applying to these?

I feel like my GPA is too low for a lot of these schools, and seeing the chance threads on CC everyone seems much more qualified than me. Anyway, can you tell me my chances for some of theses schools, or if I should even be applying to ivies ?

Good EC’s and sat score but apart from that I see a solid maybe low match in NYU and Umich

bump

your scores and class rank are a bit low, but good EC’s. I can’t say for sure, but you’re definitely COMPETITIVE for those schools and you better get some matches and safeties

You do want to bring up your GPA and the CR score as most of these schools are very competitive and are reach for most students. UMich also put more emphasis on GPA. You may want to double check your uwGPA calculation.

@lanflan‌ Our school doesnt provide class rank other than tell us if we’re top 10% so that was just my estimate. Thanks for the input!

@billcsho‌ Are you saying the unweighted is probably lower than i put or higher? Do you know where I could do a proper calculation since our school only gives weighted? I know it’s between 91-93% unweighted, but I wanted to know what it was out of 4.0

@hmemon99 Does your school give letter grades or just %? If you have uw % score, you may still convert them into letter grades. Try to convert the % grade of each class into letter grades using charts below. Then calculate the GPA using A=4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0, etc for all subjects and only the 5 cores.

Do not use the average % for conversion. Use the % from EACH course to get a letter grade and then do the calculation.

@billcsho‌ is that really the standard system?!?!??!?! I was under the impression that 90-100 was an A, 80-90 was a B, etc. If my school just uses that system and my A’s don’t have any description other than A’s, does it matter if one was a 94? Do I need to recalculate my GPA using that system for college?

There is no standard as each school may have their own chart. What I posted are just the more popular ones (which is A=90-100, B=80-89, etc).
