Do I have chance? I doubt. Also how do appeals work?
I really want to go to uf badly. Thanks

You’re a Match at UF. Your UF GPA is a bit low, but still within range, your SAT is above average and your EC’s are strong. Your class rank is a concern, but being an URM and 1’st generation helps here…

You never know with UF’s holistic admissions, but you have a solid shot. :)

Good Luck!

An appeal of a UF admission decision is usually futile. Prior anecdotal evidence on CC or other sites refelects that out of hundreds of appeals per year only 4-5 on average are granted. You can only appeal as to something that you omitted from your application that would reflect that school performance was severely impacted by very serious illness, overwhelming family or personal crises or similar situations and that such information was omitted from your application, essay or other materials. Remember UF admission is a complex process with the 6,400 freshman slots some of which are absorbed by hundreds of athletic scholarship students, a substanial of Talented Twenty Program students, a geographical overlay requirement that limits and/or controls the number of admitted students from each of Florida’s 67 counties and other factors. The admitted student averages for last year were 4.30 GPA, SAT 1967 and ACT 30-Composite. The 42% admitted rate will probably be reduced even further because reports are that the number of UF applications this admission cycle will exceed those of last year.

Seeing the stats of incoming freshmen always makes me feel a little guilty inside. I see stellar students getting rejected, and here I am getting to go. I am a transfer, but I barely graduated high school (summer school, less than a 2.0 gpa), had very few ECs, 1050 on the SAT (taken in 97…the scores were different then, but that’s still not great) and did horribly during my first attempt at college (.66gpa with grade forgiveness). That said, OP, if you don’t get accepted as a freshman, but really want to go to UF, don’t give up hope. I am a 34 year old single mom who was an abysmal student until I had a child that gave me the motivation to do well (still only a 3.15 at the school I just got my AA from though), and I am starting classes next week. If you really want it, go to another school for 2 years (preferably a Florida community/state college) and transfer in.
