Do I have a chance of being admitted to the Rice/Baylor Medical Scholars Program?

-4.59 weighted gpa (3.76 unweighted)
-ap classes: human geography, chemistry, spanish language, english language, u.s. history, statistics, AB calculus, biology, art history, microeconomics, u.s. government/politics,
-high school marching band for two years (captain of saxophone section for one year, as a sophomore)
-I took a class called Health Science Technology IV in which we became nurse's assistants in the fall and volunteered/shadowed in the different departments at our local hospital in the spring
-mission trip to Honduras the summer after freshman year, four-week medical service trip to Nicaragua the summer after sophomore year
-student council for three years
-HOSA for three years
-high school class rank: 12/674
-I have not taken the ACT or SAT yet, but plan on taking the ACT with writing - what score do I need on the ACT to have a realistic chance of being admitted to Rice or the Rice/Baylor Medical Scholars Program?

These kinds of program, you need to walk on water to get admitted( even for the least selective BS/MD program), I think it’s even more so for Rice/Baylor Medical.

if not Rice/Baylor, do i have a chance of gaining admission to Rice in general?

Rice/Baylor is the pretty much the most competitive BS/MD program out there - and standards for a normal BS/MD are pretty high. I’m sure you still have some time, but based on your gpa/rank and ecs at the moment, you may not be cut out for a program as competitive as Rice/Baylor’s but could take a look at other BS/MDs if that’s the way you want to go. You’ll want to have more medical experience like hospital volunteering, research, etc. to build your resume for these programs.

It’s tough to say anything about Rice UG w/o any standardized test scores. Unweighted gpa seems a little low but i have little standard to judge. Keep trying to vie for those awards and leadership positions you can.

Are you in Texas, if yes I’ve heard it’s ridiculously hard for students from Texas. But if not, I’ve read that Rice likes to recruit students out of state.

can i use my main common app essay for the rice/baylor application “experience” essay? it answers the prompt perfectly…
