Any suggestions on how to improve my chances are welcomed...
And please suggest any US University with a good Computer Engg dept. and with financial aid for Internationals.

It is impossible to know what your chances are because of fin. aid issue.
Another (much less selective) very good school for comp. engineering is U of Illinois. No fin aid for internationals, but much cheaper then Stanford.

It looks a little embellished.

Why embellished?
Which schools can be "match" for me(Engg dept)?

ronty,
you are a very strong student, but being international puts you in a different category from US students regarding your chances of admission if you need fin aid. There are few schools that have need-blind admissions for international students, but they are all very selective, and can't be counted as a "match" by almost anyone. You can try to post your question on the parents' forum. There are some very knowledgeable people there that might give you good advice.

how many internationals did India send last year? look that up, and that should tell you your chances... I think all of China sent like, 3 or 4 intls last year, for the entire country....so... yea...

http://tinyurl.com/cmlsj

http://www.petersons.com/educationusa/

you might find those useful.

ronty,
For example you said actively campaigned and spread awareness on …, studied with your father, and performed in a dance group. All of these are good, but it doesn’t show how this is special to you. I can be in several dozen clubs but if I’m only a participant in all those clubs instead of being like the President or VP, then it’s not going to have as much of an effect on the admissions dean. So if you said you were doing an internship with your father or the lead dancer in your group, you might arouse their interest.

Thanks to all of you. Yes, being an 'international' student makes it very tough to get admitted in a top US university.
I was infact one of the 2 lead dancers.
Please tell me about ur stats. The major problem for me is that the average Indian applicant pool is ultra competitive.

plzz post more comments
