Do I have a chance to go to this amazing school?

I am particularly enamored. I visited it over summer. Beautiful. And one can study abroad at Cambridge? HELLO!

So, I did not do too well freshman/sophomore years of high school, but junior year was great. Huge upward trend.

I'm white a white girl from a large public school in central Florida.

I have around an unweighted GPA of 3.5 and weighted 4.0-4.1
Top 12%
I will be top 10% after 1st semester with a higher GPA (3.6 uw)
Shooting for at least a 2100 on SATs come October
AP World = 4
AP American History = 4
AP Lang = 4
AP Euro = 4

5 AP classes senior year and 1 community college class.

Total of 9 AP classes and all honors classes when available.

Community service will be at least 3 hours a week.

A few clubs, not an officer of anything.

I hope to paint myself in my applications as a lover of literature (which is true). This can also somewhat explain my lack of involvement in clubs.

I am definitely considering applying ED here. I'm not sure if I should wait for ED2 though for GPA reasons.

Thoughts?

THANK YOU SO MUCH, CC! I AM A LOST FOOL WITHOUT YOU!

Someone out there has SOME input, right?

Anything? Please?

The Davidson Common Data set puts rigor of record, recommendations, personal character, and volunteer work as the highest importance in the application decision. In addition, a 2160 SAT would put you at the 75th percentile. So I think it is not out of reach, if you meet your goals for the SAT.

Study hard, explain in your essays why you are of exemplary character, and you might get the fat envelope.

It’s certainly a possibility… An upward trend is always good to show that you will be able to handle the work load (it can be pretty heavy here). I know people here that didn’t get the best grades in high school but still made it here and love it. I think that’s because it’s not all numbers (GPA, class rank, AP scores, etc) but they want to know things like 1) you aren’t just casually applying to Davidson, i.e. you’ve visited and are seriously interested (you can demonstrate that in stuff like the Why Davidson? essay), 2) your character, and so on.

Stay positive but don’t put all your hopes in Davidson. My D became besotted with it when she visited jr year and despite stellar app.(2300+ on Sat, NMSF, many APs, SummerBridge math tutor every other Sat for 4 years) and being her school’s Belk nominee, did not get in. I still remember all the wonderful things that she said about it and often wonder why she was not accepted. If I remember correctly, one of the organizations supports epilepsy which her dad has. Just seemed perfect for her in every way. I also remember thinking at the time that she would have access to the teachers if she had questions.

I couldn’t help looking at this thread because I now have son that is applying to college.
