Also keep in mind that some schools don’t allow College Board’s Score Choice (such as Stanford). So before trying to send in scores, I would recommend finding out if the colleges you want to apply to offer Score Choice.
Is there any way that you could retake the SATs? I would try getting it above 2000. For Upenn it would have to be even higher 2250+.

I could take the sat again next fall. I am still waiting for the may sat scores to come back. I am taking the act again in June (actually studying).

As you seem to know, your major weakness centers on standardized test scores. Your numbers give you a weak profile. Allegedly, Ivy League schools put a greater emphasis on the Critical Reading score and yours is uncomfortably low. Your GPA is good but not spectacular. As a result, the Ivies, right now, seem very much a longshot, (with or without ED).

Penn, Columbia, Cornell <-> Big Reach
Georgetown, Michigan, BC <-> Various levels of reach
Villanova - Match
The Rest - Safe, more or less.

You almost have too many ECs. I read your list and my reaction was, maybe they need to spend less time volunteering and more time studying. Not a slam, just my gut reaction.

But remember, just like all the other advice you’re going to get, we’re all just guessing.

what activities you talking about? you have to read…i helped coach a 5th grade girls basketball team and a 7th grade boys basketball team. and as of now i am going to use my act score.

I got a 1950 on the May SAT (610 CR, 650 M, 690 W) but will most likely use my ACT score as of now. I am probably going to take the SAT again in the fall. I am taking the ACT again in June.

It calculates your Academic Index based on a formula from a book about Ivy League admissions. I think you’ll find that while your SATs have gone up, the CR number is really hurting you. I stand by my guesses in post #6: The Ivies, Georgetown, Michigan and BC are all reaches of varying degree, in some cases highly unlikely reaches. You should expand your school list.

I know that test scores don’t tell the whole story of admissions, but it should give you a better idea as to how you stack up to recent attending students. For Example:

Thanks for the advice and insight. My ACT score will most likely go up; hopefully a 32 composite because I am going to study this time. So I will probably use that. My SAT isn’t horrible but I know that it is below the standards at Penn, but hey everyone can dream, right? lol. I loved Fordham and would be very happy there. Plus, my high school has a big connection with Fordham. I mean my ACT score (30) seems to fit in at Boston College because College Board states that the composite range is 28-32, but I understand that students will be applying with better stats than me. Also, I know two kids from my high school that got in with lower SAT’s than mine, just saying. I loved Loyola in Maryland too; I will most likely be applying there. I appreciate and thank everyone’s opinions and help. Please keep giving me feedback.
