i wanna apply for admission at sjsu for fall of '09

however i messed up my sophomore and junior year and my overall gpa for those eyars is a 2.95...it would have been atleast a 3.0 but i got a D in my 2nd semester of physiolgoy (third yr of a science)...shouldi just retake the class

or not worry about it?

Mandy,

Yes, you have a chance at San Jose State and CSU East Bay. Double-check that you are on track to complete your A-G requirements. Take your SAT. Use the CSU Eligibilty index to see if you are eligible: CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - Eligibility Index - California Residents

Mandy, with a GPA of 2.95 all you need to do is score 540 TOTAL on the math and critical reading sections. Not 540 each, 540 as a total of those two scores. Alternatively, you would need a composite score of 11 on the ACT to be eligible. I have confidence that you will achieve in excess of the required scores.

If re-taking the "D" class fits into your senior schedule, take it. If it does not fit, forget about it and concentrate on your other required A-G courses.

Good luck.

Well, the 540 is the "mandatory score", but in reality it will take about a 1050 in those two test sections to be accepted to SJSU. Still, that shouldn't be too tough for you if you have a 2.95 GPA.

Cal State East Bay (formerly Cal State Hayward) is slightly easier. Probably a 950 in the two tests would get you in there.
