hey just got deferred from BC so my life is not looking good, and i hope i can get into at least one college i applied to (only did UMD and BC), so i mean it probably wont happen but here goes

1970 SAT
790 and 760 SAT 2's

3.78 GPA UW
all honors and 3 AP's

decent EC's

VERY good essay IMHO, but i guess that was IMO since BC turned me down, so lets just say the essay was not so great

hope i can get in, only applied to my 2 favorite schools and a rejection from one of my 2 favs hurt enuf, i hope not another

if i dont get in to UMD i will probably cry

IS or OOS?

UMD also doesn't waitlist, they do Freshman First, which means you can still attend in the fall, but can't move on campus until Jan.

For IS I think you are in, for OOS I would still say yes, but no if it is for one of their competitive programs, engineering, business or journalism.

DARN haha

OOS looking at smith business

welp haha, my life sucks right now

idk what to do or where to go

can't get into business?

thought so
w/e

BC and U Maryland are such disparate schools; I would assume you are a Maryland resident. If not, you have some serious thinking to do. :)

In any case, you have a strong academic profile. It is not too late to consider some very good privates. Though they may not have the cachet of a BC, that is not important in the long term. Start by evaluating your real purpose for going to college in the first place.

Once you do that, if Chestnut Hill, MA is where you want to spend the next four years, write an appreciative note to your BC regional representative thanking the admission committee for their consideration and that you appreciate the opportunity to be reevaluated later. Ask guidance to send your full transcript early next year and if you earn any additional recognition of significance let BC know in writing.

Best of success.

northeast please clarify what you mean as i can;t decipher (thus my bad CR SAT score)

1) if im not a UMD resident i need to reconsider b/c i can;t get in???

2) if not a UMD resident i should reconsider b/c it just seems like 2 random schools???

thanks for the help.

What is your SAT score with just M/ CR? If it's a 1300+, you're a very competitive applicant for admission into the Freshmen Fellows program, which is the entrance program into the Smith School of Business as a freshmen. I know people who got in with like 3.6 and 1320 SAT, Oos.

i have a 1350 idk.

You should be a competitive applicant. But if your Out of State I don't know.
Out State Kids usually have higher stats. According to the BusinessWeek Ranking, avg Smith freshmen admit is around 1360.(one of the most competitive on the East Coast; only after upenn, nyu, mit, cmu, & emory).

You have a very good shot! I know someone from Miami, FL who got in with a 3.4 GPA and 1320 SAT.

I think it depends from what state...NJ/NY extremely competitive. North Dakota start packing your bags you're in

Realize they will re-rank your GPA, and look at the overall abilities of your HS. If it is a comp. HS you have a better shot. Only 3 AP's and not breaking 2000 can hurt you, when many kids will have at least 5 AP's under their belt. However, if your school is like VA, you 1st have to be gifted (basically no honors, but you are taking math and sciences early so in your sen yr you can take APS b/c you completed the reqs in jr.) b4 you can take APS. In that case it does help you, if ths is not the case than you are going to be on the uphill battle.

What did you get on the math and critical reading sections? (umd doesn't look at the writing section). Assuming you got around the same on each section, you should get in.
