Please Give Me Chances (In state)

Hello,
If there is a separate place that these types of posts are meant for, I apologize, I just started using this site.
I am a high school senior applying to UMD, and the Robert H. Smith school of business.

I am instate and this is the last school I haven’t heard from. I go to a relatively small private school in Maryland. I applied priority decision. I visited if that counts for something (probably doesn’t matter).

GPA- ~3.67 (W). ~3.5 (UW) My GPA has trended upwards since freshman year and my first semester of senior year I earned a 4.03 (W) GPA. I know my school submits our first semester grades on January 15, but I don’t know if UMD looks at them.

SAT- 1350. 750 Reading. 600 Math.

APs. Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Latin, English Literature

Roughly 100 community service hours.

Sports:
Cross Country (4 years)
Indoor Track (4 years)
Lacrosse (3 years)
Outdoor Track (1 year)

Clubs:
National Honor Society
Red Cross Club
American Politics Club
Model UN
Environmental Club
Certamen

Member of Latin Honor Society (not really a club, you just need to have an A in Latin.)

Recommendations: Didn’t read them, two teacher recs and a counselor rec.

Essay- I honestly think my essay could have been better, but it’s too late now.
I applied priority before November 1.

Thank you in advance.

Well since decisions come out in 10-12 days you’ll know soon enough! The business school is rather competitive, but your choices of AP classes and ECs will probably put you at an advantage and your Reading SAT was high. I’d say you have a pretty good shot of getting in, but it’s pretty unpredictable. I applied to the Engineering school and I’m getting a little worried myself so I understand how nerve-wracking it is. Good luck!

Thank you. Does anyone else have any opinions?

I think you have a very good chance of being admitted and a shot at Scholars or Honors. My daughter who is a Freshman had very similar total SAT scores (her math was closer to your reading and vice versa) and was admitted to Scholars. We are also in state, but she did have a few more APs. Stay positive - you have a great chance.

Thank you for your opinion.
