Do I Have ANY Chance At All?

I know people hate doing this but I really want to know if I have any chance of getting in at all or if I'm just wasting my time.

State: CT
- GPA: 3.98 UW, 4.75 W
- SAT: 2130 (680 math, 720 critical reading, 730 writing, essay 10)
- Ethnicity/gender: Caucasian female :(
- I've taken all honors classes since freshman year, 1 AP junior year (I got a 4 on the AP English exam) and I'm taking 3 APs senior year

Member of National Spanish Honor Society

Member of National Honor Society

awarded the Yale University Book Award

Dedicated member of buildOn (volunteer organization) since freshman year

I participated in the buildOn leadership program during the summer of 2009

I've had a summer job as a junior associate at an Executive Recruiting Firm for two years

admitted into the 700 Club (for students who received over a 700 on any SAT test)

In my spare time I play the guitar, take both digital and film photography and write.

I know my ECs are lacking and I don't have any leadership positions but do I have any chance at all of getting in or even getting waitlisted? And what can I do senior year to increase my chances?

Thanks :)

You do have a chance. If you weren’t a white OOS female I would say you have a very good chance, but alas you are in the most difficult admissions category. Definitely worth applying though.

Write good essays. Maybe work your photography and guitar playing into the optional essay.

Ah, thank you! I’m definitely applying  It’s worth a shot.

i think you have a pretty good chance. your gpa and sat scores are good.

just a question: how do you have a 4.75 W gpa with only 1 AP class?

Along with that AP, I’ve taken 15 honors classes so far. Honors classes also contribute to the weighted GPA :)

Any chance you’re the twin sister of waterpic18? She posted a similar post and is also from CT with similar stats and activities. If you are, just read the response I made to her post about never knowning until you apply and if you’re interested, there’s no harm in applying as long as you approach selective admission with the right attitude.

Good luck!

Ahaha no, we’re not twin sisters, but she’s a friend of mine!

Thanks for the response. I’m definitely applying  I’m staying positive!

Got it. Well my response to her still rings true for most applicants.
