Do I need to take TOEFL?

Hi I was not born in the US but I'm a senior at high school. I am studying here almost 5 years with a student visa.
But colleges are demanding TOEFL scores. I already took my SAT but do i need to take TOEFL too ?

It really depends on the college requirement. Some schools may waive the TOEFL requirement if you have been studying here for a couple years, others will require it for all foreign students. Some schools may waive it if you reach certain score in SAT CR/W.

Each college and university sets its own policy about English proficiency exams. You need to check each institution separately. If you don’t want to take the TOEFL, don’t apply to any that require it.

Your English is good, but it isn’t perfect. My advice as an ESL teacher would be that you take the TOEFL.

Take the TOEFL. It’ll highlight the fact English isn’t your native language and will help admission officers judge your scores in that light.

In this instance, if the college requires it, yes.

If you want to be accepted, then you complete the application process AS REQUIRED.
