I am a transfer student who meets all of the minimum requirements to get into the Accounting program at Michigan State. I applied in January for admission in Fall of 2013 and the school has all of the necessary documents. When the 12 week period that I was told would be necessary to review my application had elapsed, I contacted MSU and was told they hadn't been looking at my application, but they would do so now and I would find out within a month.

That was four weeks ago and I still have not received response. Should I just give up? Should I read anything into these delays?

Hey man! So I am in the exact boat as you I applied in January. They told me they were like 6 weeks behind. My friend last year got accepted as a transfer one month before school started. Personally I think that the business applicants are really slow. I am a Finance major. Alexander Torres is reviewing the applications and in my opinion hes just really slow (having meet him personally.) So I guess just keep waiting like I am and hopefully we will get in soon enough.

Since it has been four weeks and they told you that they would have an answer in a month, I would contact them again. This will show continued interest and it may put your mind at ease as well.

Good luck.

Is it better the earlier you apply? I’m looking to transfer for fall 2014 for business, and I was probably going to apply in September and get all my stuff in, and I will have all of the pre-reqs done by the end of the fall semester, so my final grades for the pre-reqs would be sent in by January, and all of my other application materials would already be there.

Would applying earlier help at all, or should I just wait until January when my last grades are in?

Also, I’m most likely not doing accounting, but does accounting have any other requirements besides having a 3.5, and having all of the other requirements completed?

For students who have completed files, the majority of those have already been finished. If we are waiting on Spring grades from your previous college, they are just starting to arrive so it should be just a few more weeks for a decision. Thanks for your patience!
