Hi
I am applying to the university and waiting to hear back from admissions. I really REALLY want to go to MSU but I have already been accepted to an in state college and I have 30 days to accept their offer. The other college wants me to come in the summer but I already have plans. Should I wait for MSU decision or should I just go to the other college? I'm torn!!!!!!!!!!

When did you apply to MSU? They should have responded to all freshmen by now.

Call the admission’s office. Unless you applied late I think you should have heard back by now if you’re a freshmen.

Are you wait listed or something?

I applied a month ago. I also applied to CSU and from looking at the stats I think I have a pretty good chance of getting in. I was on the website and MSU has the best philosophy program ever!

You applied REALLY late. There is a good chance that the freshmen class is already all set. You might be admitted in the spring instead.

Yea but they have rolling admission

Yes… But that doesn’t mean you can apply this late and expect to get in. It means more like first come first serve.

Romanigypsyeyes,
Quick question about your post. I applied in January, for fall, as a transfer. They requested second semester grades from me, which they will have in about a week. I have about 30 credits of integrative studies type classes with a 3.85 GPA. Do you think theres a chance that I would be sent a WINTER (second semester) acceptance, even though I’m a transfer and not a freshman. I’m perfectly fine if this happens, just curious if you think its likely/unlikely, possible, etc. Thanks for your help!

It’s definitely possible but I’m not sure. Transfer admissions are something I have very little experience in. I wish I could be of more help, but like I said- it’s not something I’m too familiar with :/

You applied in January, it should be fall admissions as long as that’s what you specified on your application. Call the admissions office. Also, when I spoke to admissions they said they were still accepting students. Are you a college student?

iqueen, that’s not true. Transfer admissions work much differently than freshmen admissions. For example, last year they weren’t even accepting ANY transfer students for Spring 2012 (and I’m not sure how many they admitted in Fall 2011) because of over-enrollment issues. It didn’t matter when you applied. Just because a transfer student applies in x month doesn’t mean they’ll be admitted in the fall. I don’t know if this will happen. Stud very well may be accepted into the fall semester, I’m just saying that freshmen admissions don’t work like transfer admissions and vice versa.

I’m sure they are still accepting some students. However, I’m sure the class is more or less full. There is always hope, but you have to remember that you applied very late. If you have extremely strong stats then you have a good chance of getting in. If you’re just an average student by MSU’s standards then you have a much lower chance of getting in.

Yes, I go to MSU.

Thanx for that info!
Wats it like at MSU?
What was your high-school gpa?

Lol you’ll have to be more specific than that about MSU.
Somewhere in the 3.7-3.8 range with a 33 ACT.

How big is the campus, do you feel challenged in your courses
Definetly tell me about the libraries (im a super book worm)
How is the weather
What are your professors like
How big is your dorm
Is the cafeteria food edible
Things like that lol

I don’t visit the library frequently tbh. It’s huge though. I work at a library in Lansing so that’s where I get my books.
The weather is typical of the midwest. Hot summers, cold winters. Usually a decent amount of snow but we had a super mild winter.
I rarely have bad professors. As a whole, they’re great.
I live in an apartment. My room in Sny-Phi was the smallest room on campus (Sny Phi rooms are the smallest) and yet they were still pretty big IMO. Can’t tell you how big exactly.
Yes, it’s edible. I quite enjoyed it. There was always variety for me as a vegetarian.

How big is the campus?
Do you visit the museum?
