Weight or unweighted GPA?

They care about rank and strength of load. A 4.0 at one school is not the saame as at others.

Yeah, like at my school, where they have to extend the decimals on the GPA to separate the people who get a 3.9995 from the people who get a 3.9980. I think 90% get an UW GPA above 3.8. There is no weighting either. Dang I hate my school. If they had weighting, I would be ranked #1. But, with my one A-, i am probably ranked 60th. (they don't rank either)

Why do schools care abou rank? What if its a school of like 50 people!

to see how you match up against students from your own high school

GPA tells them little about a candidate and needs a context such as how you do against your competition, no matter how few or how many.

Wait 90% get an UW over 3.8?
