Do we have to write an essay for scholarship?

I'm not clear at all how we're considered for scholarships. Do they only look at our rank/SAT? Because someone implied we had to write an "essay" and I was under the assumption the whole time that I could just kind of sit back, do nothing, and wait for Rutgers to send me a letter.

Yes.

the essay you wrote on your application i think doubles as your scholarship app essay, last year it was only mandatory if you wanted to be considered for scholarships, this year they just wanted everyone to write it. I think on the site somewhere it says tuition is doubled if you enjoy eating at olive garden

To be honest, I heard from someone who works at Admissions that they don’t even read the essay. I’m sure they focus more on your academic record over their “essay”.
