Do you have a better chance of getting accepted to a UC if you have igetc before applying?

Do UC schools care if you have igetc and pre reqs done after applying? Do you have a better chance? When you are applying, do you tell them that you are finishing the pre reqs/igetc during the spring? And also do they only consider the gpa you have during november when applying?

As long as you finish your Pre reqs and IGETC it shouldn’t matter when you take them. I don’t think it’ll give you a better chance if you take them before applying. When you apply you note which courses you will be taking during Spring. Later on you’ll update your Fall grades and they will be included towards your GPA for your transfer application. The Spring grades won’t be included but instead you’ll have to maintain a certain GPA.

No, and no. IGETC/prereqs may be completed by the end of your Spring term. Obviously having the bulk of your prereqs completed by the end of the Fall is ideal, though. Taking all of your prereqs in the Spring is a red flag, but taking 1-2 is not. You should focus on completing prereqs before IGETC (with the exception of English/Math requirements - those should be completed ASAP, ideally).

Yes, and no - they consider the GPA you have at the end of the Fall. You will submit a transfer academic update in January, showing them the grades you earned after your Fall term.
