this one kid who did go to my school, then got suspended (haha) and his mom made him switch to some other private school.
anyway, he is on of the pot smoking stoner kids... and he was in my spanish class and he somehow always got 100's on his test and quizzes and i would be like "did you study?" and hes like "no" but i know he doesnt cheat because he had like a 4.0 gpa.

I'm one. The most I studied all year was 15 minutes for a Calc test. I only complete homework that I know will be graded. I have about a 3.9 gpa. I need to change my ways before college in the fall though.

My high school stats are crazy...

My UW GPA was a 2.9. I failed three semesters (i.e. First semester of this class, second semester of another etc) in my Jr. year and got Cs in 2 others. I got 2 Cs Sr. year. I also had:
a 1600, a 2400 and 13 AP 5s.

My intellectual abilities have allowed me to thrive in my senior and junior level courses right now (in college), but in math and chem, I've really had to strap down and study because I never developed a work ethic of any kind in college.

me ):

I’m in Mensa. I was barely top 50% in my class LOL
but yeah, that .8 GPA-- epic win.

Well I do all my work and have good grades/GPA so I guess I don’t really qualify.

But I always wait until the last minute to do work and my sleep schedule is all screwed up.

My friend is ranked 3rd in the class but he never studies at all. He does his homework and projects, though. I’m at 2nd because I work harder, and my friend is ranked 1st because he works hardest of all.

Yes!.. He’s Asian… >_> sigh… 1480 sat i think "/

I know a few kids like this. Best ex. follows.

Brian (not his actual name, but my friend who’s known him all her life, even when they both lived in China, calls him that for some reason) is late to our Calc BC class everyday, because he’s downstairs in the lunchroom buying food. After he finishes eating, he either disrupts class, falls asleep, or gets up, takes the hall pass, and leaves for most of class. I don’t think he knows what it means to take notes. Once he had the lowest grade in our class (of 13 students, all of whom are really smart, so it wasn’t actually bad) so he had to take a group test with me, and it’s amazing. He looks at the test and learns it then. It’s so annoying. I can stare at a problem for time immemorial and still not get it.

He had a 227 PSAT, the highest score (one point over mine) of all who announced it in our Calc class. And a 35 ACT.

I do great on tests but I don’t believe in busywork (90% of homework) so I have fairly average grades.

One senior girl who already graduated had a 99% average in AP Bio but she sleeps in class all day and plays world of warcraft at home. She was a bit eccentric.

All this SAT spouting indicative (at least implicitly) of intelligence is…weird, but w/e…I guess it’s the implied consensus.

A couple of them exist at my school, but not “incredibly” smart. Just smart.

I’m a slacker, but I just maintain the average without doing any hw (outside of school, that is, I do it occasionally in classes before the teacher collects it).

It was reverse for me. I used to slack big time in Middle school and get straight B’s and C’s. Then learned to stop slacking during the last day week of middle school and transfered into all Honors callses for High school. I now have a perfect 4.0 Uw average.

Me, kinda. I do well on tests sans studying… even though people always think I am a big studier, I rarely spend more than 20 mins studying. I just pretend to while I’m actually wasting my time on CC :P

Me:
34 on the ACT no prep
Ranked 3/447
I don’t study
I don’t do homework ( i actually am close enough with the teachers that i talk them into giving me credit anyways)
During lectures i play with play doh (and my teachers don’t care)
I smoke weed every weekend…
And i am actually a well adjusted child, unlike the two kids ranked ahead of me

story of my life.
my friend and i are exactly like that (more so my friend than I)! We both refuse to ANY CLASSWORK that APPEARS stupid and/or pointless. We both get perfect scores on test in school in all classes, we just dont do our work. Its pretty sound that our school grades based upon the work you do and not what you know, because if it did, i would have straight As (my friend too!). We both took the SAT I and got s***y scores (me in the 1600s and my friend in the 1100s). But when someone told my friend that he was stupid and that he cheated in all his classes because his SAT scores were bad, he retook it at the next test sitting and got 2390! All the kids shut up after that… Maybe if i stay awake (and not go to his house the night before~!) ill do better on the SATs. or maybe if it were shorter… But hes (we’re) really smart, just, dont like to do much but eat and sleep and socialize with ppl.

To a large extent, all my friends are smart slackers.
One friend lives in the middle of nowhere and goes to a public school, which is a total wreck. She’s the smartest kid in the school, and could probably be valedictorian if she wanted to- but she doesn’t care about her schoolwork and feels dumbed down by the school, and it shows in her poor grades.
Another friend does get good grades and is quite smart, but doesn’t put effort into her schoolwork and isn’t planning ahead. For example, she treats most homework as a joke, and she won’t so much as consider college admissions, refusing to so much as take a foreign language. At all.
An acquaintance is near the head of the class, got a 35 ACT, and is widely recognized as a genius, especially in math/science classes. However, she studies for very few tests and claims to do homework only during lunch and bus rides.

I’m a fake smart slacker.

People THINK I’m a smart slacker because I have a 5.0 weighted and I do nothing in class but play video games, but it’s only because I’ve taken all the fluff weighted courses (ones extremely easy to get an A in), and that I’m also an unabashedly AMAZINGLY lucky guesser. (I can COMPLETELY guess on 20 questions and get up to 18 correct)

When it comes to actual academic work, I’m actually kind of dumb. I learn MUCH slower than my peers, and that’s assuming I actually learn it. A lot of times, I completely don’t understand and just try to BS my way through it. (Story of my math class. :p)

That is totally me. I’m taking two semesters of photography and only 5 AP classes next year.

Dated one.

He was the asian kid who was like cocaptain of the waterpolo team and had an 8pack.
Was actually really good at math, but refused to study and was convinced he was stupid. He didn’t do any homework or study and still somehow did better in precalc than I did, even though I studied.
Ended up graduating with like a 2.something and is going to a CSU, which is kind of understandable given as he never studied or anything. I’m pretty sure his main interests were waterpolo, younger girls, drinking, getting high, stealing things, picking locks, and snowboards/longboards. What a keeper.

yup! this kid I know has a couple D’s and is a pothead. he doesn’t even try in school. but when he wants to he can lash out his math skills at you. and he wins awards as well.

he wasn’t planning on going to college until recently. but don’t judge him, he’s seriously a sweet, humble guy.

same thing with this other kid who’s enrolled in a bunch of AP’s but doesn’t try. he devotes all his time to ASB and turns in his assignments in 16 pt font.
