Is the noncustodial profile usually required for non US/Canada residents?

If the non-custodial profile is required, it's generally required of every applicant.

I'm sorry if I didn't phrase this right.
I meant, is the noncustodial profile required if the applicant is a US citizen, but the noncustodial parent does not live in the US or in Canada? And lives in some other country with a totally different tax system?

Yes. If the school requires the non-custodial profile, it doesn't matter where the non-custodial parent lives. The parent is still a parent, and the school still continues to hold the parent partly responsible for paying college costs.

Certain schools curtail reqs. if the NCP is a citizen of another country .. because in that case, they most likely don't file taxes..

If you do not submit the information for both your parents, the application will be considered incomplete and you will not receive FA.

Is it acceptable to estimate (based on what they tell you)?

In addition to completing the Noncustodial PROFILE online, your noncustodial parent may be required to forward copies of his/her 2008 IRS Tax return and W-2(s) to WPI's Office of Financial Aid if we select your file for verification.

And how would you do that if the parent doesn't pay taxes to the US? And doesn't have those things to forward?

I'm just not sure how this works. -so confused- Also when parts of the CSS Profile say "this corresponds to these parts of the IRS tax form" do you just guess how they correspond to the other country's tax forms?

Call the financial aid office of one of the schools you're applying to and ask. They've dealt with this situation before.
