Do you need to rewrite your personal statement if you change your major for UCLA???

Do you need to rewrite your personal statement if you change your major for UCLA???

Originally, I was

Primary: Civil Engineering
Alternate: Math/Econ

Now, I am

Primary: Economics
Alternate: Math/Econ

TAP: Yes
IGETC: Yes
GPA: 3.95

Out of the 2 personal statements submitted, the first one was about why you chose your major. I wrote about engineering, experience, etc.

When I asked my CCC counselor and called the UCLA admissions counselors they said I don't / can't write another essay, even though my previous one was about engineering and I chnage to Economics.

I guess I don't need to because I'm TAP certified and have a high GPA.

Comments/suggestions accepted!

I think thats the point of the essay. That specific essay is trying to gauge your interest a specific major.

my question is should i send them another essay? or am i ok?

Since you say that you cannot send a new essay, a letter/note (in lieu of the actual essay) explaining how/why your interest changed (has to sound legitimate) will definitely help IMO.

The econ department WILL read that engineering essay. That is going to be weird for them.

Send a new essay even if they say you cant.

since i have TAP, IGETC, and a high gpa, my counselor said the essay really won't matter

so, i just sent them a simple letter/email requesting the change of major

didn't write a reason

worst comes to worst...i'm pretty sure i'm in with my alternate

Who would you send a new essay to anyhow I wonder. I was considering a modification to my major as well....
