Do you think I have a chance of getting into BU?

I’m a senior atm and have already applied regular decision. Here are my credentials:

-3.43 weighted cumulative GPA (really pushing for that 3.5 this semester)
-Mostly Honors classes (mainly English, Math, and Social Studies) throughout high school
-2 AP Classes
-1 Class as UConn
-My highest SAT scores (New SAT) are a 580 in math and a 630 in Reading (combined to 1210)
-Consiserable music extracurriculars
-Some community service/volunteer experience
-Other Honors such as Music Honor Society and French Honor Society, High honor roll and honor roll, and a music award

It’s one of the most (if not, the most) competitive schools that I am applying to, but I wouldn’t really consider it a first choice. But, I hear they have a great Medical program, and I plan on going in Pre-Med, so it’s pretty high up on my list.

Bu is a reach. a match if you choose the CGS option.

what is the CGS option?

CGS is the College of General Studies. It’s a small liberal arts college within BU. The people that are selected for it basically fulfill BU’s general education requirements (getting a “liberal arts foundation”) and start taking a few classes for their intended major with a smaller group of people, meaning smaller class sizes. CGS is only two years, then you move into a different BU college to finish your major. I believe there is just over 1,000 students (freshmen and sophomores) in it.

There’s an option on the application to check if you are willing to be considered for it, if you don’t get into the college you applied for.

I scored a 1940 on the Old SAT which is on the lower end so I’m thinking that submitting my scores of 710 on US History and 680 on Math 2 will help but idk?? Will this hurt or help my app?

@uniclassof2021 Ohhh okay. I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what I added on my application since I only really have a general idea of what I want to do. So you think I have an increased chance since that’s the case?

@sky3651 Yes, people who do check that they’d like to be considered for CGS do have a better chance of getting in because lots of people don’t want to go to BU unless they get into their top choice college

Be aware that if admitted to CGS it is a final decision and will not be changed to another school. You must complete the full two tear CGS program before transferring into your preferred school.
