I got 9.5k in merit scholarship per year...yet I wasn't accepted into the honors program it seems. It sounds like people are in the honors program who have received a couple thousand less than me do that just kind of irks me...as small of a possibility it is I feel there is definitely a semi realistic chance that I was supposed to be admitted into the honors program but there was some kind of error. I won't lie though it's probably more because I really wanted to be in the honors program and I am a bit afraid of what dorm I'll end up in and maybe ending up with a roommate who will want to party all week although it's probably as likely/unlikely as mistakingly not being admitted to the hp :p

Take the money, ask for a single if you are worried about a room mate, and be happy…

When filling out the housing preference form, indicate that you strongly disapprove of alcohol use, they do a really good job of matching roommates IF you fill out the form honestly.

You can always call admissions and inquire as to why you weren’t admitted to honors, but I echo socaldad42’s sentiments - take the money and be happy!

Either way, congratulations on the merit scholarship.

Well I am definitely pretty happy about the money but it would be nice to be in the honors program from the get go…will definitely work hard to get in. But if they actually do a good enough job I’ll be happy. Or maybe I’ll try to find a roommate. I don’t strongly abstain from it…id like to party on the weekends…but no more and my friend said that’s what a lot of people do but maybe that’s how I took it and not what he meant about regular kids. And I guess it’s kind of ridiculous to think that most people would be into drinking so much.
