When is the earliest you can take the medical exam?

This happens when West Point or another Service Academy sends you the information that allows you to schedule your appointment. Typically this happens soon after you are identified as an official candidate. In our daughter's case she received the info to take the DODMERB exams soon after she returned from IAW (now SLS) and the USNA summar seminar. You will be sent the info you need to schedule all of your different exams (dental/medical/eye).

To give you an example of her DODMERB time frame, she made her exam appts on 6/22, her exams were all completed by July 6, and she had her clearance by 7/20.

Competitive candidates are authorised to proceed with DoDMERB exams before candidates who might be considered "at risk".

Turbotw: As shogun said, you will be mailed all the information when West Point makes you an official candidate. I got my packet in the summer and was medically qualified by early August I think. They will tell you which doctors to go to; you can schedule an appointment as soon as you're ready. The worst part of the process is filling out the medical history section; make sure your parents have all your medical records.
