Who has to inspect you?

Dodmerb (Department of Defense Medical Exam Review Board) You schedule an exam with them in the late summer- to early fall.

Once you are established as a candidate you will be notified of where to go and who to see for your eye and physical exam. It might be on a base, post, or it might be a private physician or optomotrist, depending on where you live. You will be also asked to provide some records and x-rays from your dentist.

Can I see my own doctor to give me an exam to even see if I should apply?
They need to see my teeth? Why, I had braces, is that a problem?

They need to see x-rays of your teeth if you are offered an appointment. If you HAD braces, that shouldn't be a problem. Its only a problem if you can't get them off before R-Day I think. Theres alot of disqualifications, but even if you did visit your doctor and he found something DoDMERB still gives waivers so you should probably just go ahead and apply.

As shogun stated, you will receive the information regarding where and with whom for the physical and eye exam by mail, but you set the appointment times.

Yes, according to the instructions my d received (early summer of 2006), you can see your personal physician, at your own expense. We went to the designated DoD physician and if I remember correctly it was free.

My d didn't have anything dental to do until after she received her appointment. Then there's a whole list of things (including dental) you must send in. Just do one step at a time.

Good Luck

cool beans thanks for the advice
